Overview

The Director of Community Engagement will play a critical role in the growth and sustainability of 516 ARTS, focusing on contemporary art-based public programs and community engagement. This position will work closely with the Programs Team to create and implement a robust public program schedule that increases the organization's impact and reach. This position reports to the Executive Director and works directly with artists, educators, and community partners to ensure high-quality, engaging programming that aligns with our mission and values. The job is about 60% program management and 40% community engagement.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in museum education and public programming in the arts, preferably with a focus on contemporary art. They are passionate about community engagement, highly organized, and possess the ability to balance current programming with long-term visioning. We seek a collaborative team player who will bring creative ideas to the table, nurture partnerships, and manage the details of a robust program schedule. Importantly, they will help shape and build a more robust public program schedule, including a rental program and studio program, in conjunction with our new building expansion. 

  • FLSA Status: Exempt
  • Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Compensation: Starting at $60,000 annually and commensurate with experience. Benefits include health insurance, paid time off, and eligibility for an employer-sponsored IRA contribution after one year of employment.
